It Is Easy To Get Car Insurance On Line Even If You Are A Senior
I am proud to say that I bought car insurance using the computer the other day. I was not born in the computer age, so when I first heard about it, the prospect of getting my car insurance on line was completely foreign to me. When I was young, one had to visit the insurance company in person to sign the contract, if nothing else. There was simply no other way of doing it so you can imagine how surprised I was to receive a policy document in the post without having first going through a rigmarole to get it. Yet I have it in black and white and my little car is now insured and so is my home.
Since my husband passed away I have found myself disinclined to travel far from home and the only insurance company I know of is way across town. I know it sounds strange not to want to use the car to go and get car insurance but I would need to pass through an unpleasant part of town to arrive at the particular insurance company I am referring to. Fortunately, I confided in a friend at our monthly book club meeting and she told me that I would be able to get car insurance on line. She said that her grandson had helped her apply for a hospital plan last year and would be only too happy to help me get my car properly insured.
I was not convinced that the young man would be as happy to assist as his grandmother had indicated (youngsters are so busy these days) but he was on my doorstep bright and early the next morning. We used Google, my, what a strange name that is, look for the websites of companies selling insurance. At this point I began to worry because I did not know the name of more than one insurance company offhand and I know how important it is to get three quotes. My husband always took care of our insurance business but I remember him saying, “Annie, you gotta get three quotes, or else you won’t have enough of a choice”. But my friend’s grandson assured me that we wouldn’t need to know the names of any insurance companies at all as we would be going through a company that would get the quotes for us. Then he helped me to type in my details on the computerized form and send it off. The whole shebang didn’t take us very long, even though I had trouble reading the computer screen with my bifocals, and it was so simple that I think I may even be able to do it by myself next time. I was more than a little surprised when I received nine quotes back as I had only been expecting three. I now had a more than acceptable spread of quotes from which to choose, and choose I did!
The whole process was so effortless that I think I may even be able to do it by myself next time. Once you get used to computers, they are not half as scary as you might think, and if an old girl like me can successfully get my car insurance on line, then the rest of you seniors can too.
