Are Women Better Drivers?
The combat of the genders is not something that will ever disappear! Neither man nor woman is ever going to acknowledge that the opposite gender is wiser, stronger, live longer or drive better!
If you do a search for female driving jokes, you are almost guaranteed to find a couple of thousands of results – anything from women that can’t parallel park to ladies who drive away from the gas station with the gas nozzle still attached to their vehicles. Usually there is a container of mascara and a couple of grocery bags are also mixed up in the equation!
Do this same search for male motorists and you will probably stumble on a video of a man smoking his tyres and making a number of donuts, or worst case scenario, a man who won’t ask for directions!
However, some insurance providers offer discount rates or cheaper premiums for women car insurance plans. Does this not imply that women are better drivers? Being a lady myself, I will attempt to stay fairly objective on the matter…
I’m fairly certain that my husband would laugh if I tried to convince him that I’m a much better driver that him. And he would have all the right in the world to chuckle, simply because he is a motorsport addict with more driving experience than most households when added up together! But on the same subject, he will also tell you just how he drives faster than I do, he takes more chances and he gets more easily aggravated with other road users.
Studies have demonstrated that women are more logical thinkers and do things more methodically, would be quite essential driving skills! The funny thing is, men often blame a lot of issues and moodiness on our hormones, but this sensible thinking and logistical way of doing things is in fact thanks to your estrogen levels – so in other words… bring on the hormones!
And when it comes to statistics, these numbers don’t lie! Who are more often involved in very severe vehicle accidents? Women or men? Who are more prone to quickly accumulate a collection of traffic offences? Women or men? I’m certain lots of men would hide behind their male growth hormone when having to answer this question, but deep-down, they would know the real truth!
Interestingly enough, insurance firms reckon that younger male motorists, up to the age of 25, are the most reckless drivers on the highway. Therefore people in this category will be paying more than a mature female would be paying for her special policy in the form of women car insurance.
I think the bottom line is that women are not necessarily BETTER drivers, but they may very well be a bit more careful on the road. Chances of seeing 2 women dice from robot to robot are relatively slim and most road rage cases following a bumper whacking is generally not between two ladies in mini-skirts!
Well, that’s my humble opinion! As long as I can pay reduced premiums for my “women car insurance” policy, I cannot really be bothered!
